Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the review or development of project/ program communication strategies and monitor their successes.

  2. Oversee the review and creation of communications tools and media that are consistent with ZOA’s mission and vision in Sudan , including maintenance of the website, Facebook among others.

  3. Determine and work with program teams to implement strategic communications campaigns that will help further ZOA goals

  4. Conduct trainings to ZOA and partner staff in the development and acquisition of communication materials.

  5. Create internal communications protocols and initiatives that will foster employee morale

  6. Liaise with program Managers and Program Coordinators in sensitization and dissemination of ZOA program achievements through various media especially at handing over ceremonies including handing over of program milestones,

  7. Take lead in the writing and dissemination of internal program newsletters

  8. Represent the organization at events and press conferences as delegated

  9. Reach out to influencers, media and beyond in order to arrange story placement on local, state, national and global levels

  10. Undertake any other communications related

I. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Bachelors level (Masters is a +)degree in Communication, Media, anthropology or other relevant development-related field.

· 3+ years prior experience working in a communications or marketing role especially in the humanitarian and development context in the Sudan or regional countries.

· Superior written and verbal communications skills in both English and Arabic. Knowledge of local languages in the Darfuri region and Eastern States of Sudan will be an added advantage.

· Proven success in designing and executing communications strategies and campaigns

· Excellent organizational and project management skills and ability to meet deadlines

· Must be able to think analytically and strategically

· A highly ethical work standard with a demonstrable multicultural sensitivity

· Capable of working well as part of a team as well as independently

· Great multitasker and capable of simultaneously managing multiple projects with different deadlines
