TITLE: Marketing & Communications Officer

SUPERVISOR: Marketing & Communications Manager

LOCATION: Global, remote home-based

Humentum is a global nonprofit organization that strengthens humanitarian and development organizations and advocates for data-driven policies and standards to benefit the entire sector. We work directly with organizations by building community through our online networking platform and events; advancing individual and organizational capability through online training and content; and providing solutions to organization-wide problems through our consultancy service.

Position Overview

The Marketing & Communications Officer will provide support to Humentum’s overall content marketing efforts, with a focus on digital marketing, internal and external content scheduling and creation, and digital asset management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the marketing team on creating, maintaining, and delivering on a content schedule for marketing emails, blogs, and social media, particularly by creating necessary assets to use on these platforms
  • Serve as primary producer for social media
  • Coordinate free membership convening event marketing – emails, social, and other promotional language and assets as needed
  • Assist in curating content for the blog and internal/external outreach to potential writers; edit content for publishing, and occasionally write original content
  • Create flyers, graphics, and infographics for trainings, in-house workshops, and other events as needed
  • Maintain Humentum’s YouTube channel and SocialEx Podcast platforms; ensure consistency in cadence and brand adherence on these platforms in particular
  • Create animation videos and compilation videos in-house when needed to support various marketing and communications campaigns
  • Collect and archive all photos, videos, testimonials, and collateral materials on Egnyte in organized fashion
  • Outreach to local free advertising sources, contacts, and organizations about upcoming training opportunities – be our partnership marketing lead
  • Data management and research projects as needed
  • Participate in organizational meetings and other special staff initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned consistent with the spirit and intent of the position

Requirements

Qualifications and experience

  • Proven marketing experience from work or study in communications, marketing, advertising, journalism, or a related field
  • Experience with nonprofit communications and digital communications
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and other design tools
  • Experience with Adobe Premier, Final Cut Pro, or equivalent video editing tool preferred
  • Experience with marketing automation platforms, specifically CRM-driven platforms like Marketo, a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite applications; experience with Salesforce or other CRMs and Drupal or WordPress or another CMS a plus
  • Experience with social media scheduling platforms like Hootsuite, social media analytics and google analytics a plus

  • Strong writing and communications skills
  • Enthusiasm for social media, email marketing, content production, and marketing analytics required
  • Positive attitude and professional affect required
  • Strong attention to detail – demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, organized, monitors own work to ensure quality
  • Excellent copy editing and writing skills
  • Skilled in graphic design and video editing
  • Independent problem-solving ability; motivated learner
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines while juggling multiple priorities

Job Related Information

This position is a remote, home-based position that works as part of a wider remote, global team. You will need to work independently and as well as part of the team to achieve team-based targets. You must possess both the ability and environment to work virtually: reliable connection to high-speed internet, appropriate environment for leading and participating in virtual meetings with enabled video.

Total Rewards

Compensation for this role is as set out in Humentum’s Total Rewards policy. The starting salary for the role is grade F at Step 1, paid either on the US scale for US-based staff or global scale for all other locations. If the role is part-time, the salary will be pro-rated accordingly. This role is full time.
