About this Event

Nicola Slawson is hosting a masterclass which aims to demystify freelance journalism. As an experienced freelancer, Nicola will discuss the things you need to know before you begin life as a freelance journalist. You will learn how to set yourself up as self-employed, how to organise yourself, how to find stories, network and, of course, pitch. Crucially she will also go through how to discuss money with your editor and how to get paid. You'll leave this session feeling more confident about getting into freelance journalism. Nicola will also touch on diversifying income streams and how to land shifts in-house.
