Position: Digital Content Producer
Unit: Communications, Advocacy and Marketing (CAM)
Location: Abuja FCT, Nigeria
Contract Type: International Consultant
Grade: Consultant
Duration: Six months (with the view to extend)
Background
Digital engagement plays an important role in WFP’s response to global shifts in the fields of fundraising,
communication, advocacy and marketing. Use of digital media platforms helps position WFP Nigeria as a
knowledge leader, expands outreach and broadens engagement around Zero Hunger. Effective use of digital
channels for communication of WFP Nigeria’s key messages, through relevant content, experience and dialogue,
allow individuals and groups to connect directly with the Nigeria Operation, thus creating valuable relationships
with online supporters.
In order to effectively use digital communication platforms that will increase digital brand engagement and
fundraising through individual giving and corporate partnerships, WFP Nigeria needs to hire a Digital Content
Producer.
Job brief
Under the guidance and supervision of the Head of Unit, the Consultant will:
• Develop and implement a content strategy for all digital platforms to increase media reach and
engagement.
• Produce high-impact content including videos, photos, text and graphics for digital and social media
platforms.
• Produce content for brand building visibility and publications.
• Integrating digital into all aspects of the Nigeria CO CAM Unit in line with the Global CAM objectives
Responsibilities
Content Creation
• Determine target audience and create crisp, efficient messaging for that audience.
• Proactively create high quality, engaging and innovative content - videos, photos, contests, campaigns,
audio, infographics, etc.
• Undertake video post-production, including editing and captioning using Wochit, Animoto Adobe Premiere
Pro and Rush.
• Adapt multimedia assets from HQ Division of Communication for the local audience. Tailor content to
specific audiences and channels in line with organizational objectives and fundraising campaigns.
• Design and create graphics (e.g. factographics, infographics and posters), for brand building, brand
awareness and advocacy campaigns.
Social Media Management
• Develop and implement WFP Nigeria’s digital engagement strategy.
T E R M S O F R E F E R E N C E
• Manage digital and social media platforms used for official purposes with approved content, in coordination
with the Supervisor, publishing content daily/regularly.
• Analyze and understand social media metrics to provide insights for content creation and strategic
decisions.
• Maintain a social media calendar and content plans; develop content themes according to the calendar;
ensure key deadlines are met for the dissemination of time-sensitive content.
• Identify key brand-building moments to engage audiences and create authentic and positive interaction
with followers.
• Organize and participate in events to build community and boost brand awareness.
• Prepare social media packs for flagship events, initiatives, campaigns.
• Actively engage with online audiences through social media channels.
• Stay up to date on new digital platforms, latest trends in related technology, industry standards, best
practices and benchmarks.
Content Management
• Plan and coordinate content gathering missions as required.
• Generate and analyse reports on web traffic and KPIs using Google Analytics, Hootsuite, and other social
media focused analytics channels.
• Provide guidance on the contracting of vendors, producers or companies, as needed, and the preparation
of appropriate formats and language versions of productions as required.
Qualifications and Specialized Knowledge/Experience Required
• Advanced University degree or bachelor’s degree in media production, graphic design, communications,
film studies, journalism, or other relevant field with additional years of related work experience and/or
trainings/courses.
• Demonstrated experience in developing compelling content, original stories and messages for
communications, advocacy and marketing to generate support from audiences online.
• Proven excellent skills in video production using Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects and Rush, Wochit,
Animoto and other video editing software.
• Proven skills in graphic design and illustrations for digital media and publications using open-source
graphic design programmes such as Canva, Adobe Indesign and Illustrator.
• Demonstrated experience in maintaining social media accounts, especially Facebook, Instagram and
Twitter, as well as experience with new media executions; knowledge and understanding of local and global
digital landscape and trends.
• Proven understanding of diverse audiences and the most appropriate channels/approaches to reach
them.
• Ability to integrate communications and advocacy initiatives with social media.
• Experience in reporting on qualitative and quantitative analytics.
• Experience gathering content, including facts, interviews and stories.
• Qualities of self-motivation, a team player with strong organization and collaborative skills.
Language
Excellent written and oral English.
