Position Title: Digital Marketing Officer
Unit: Communications, Advocacy and Marketing (CAM)
Location: Abuja FCT, Nigeria
Contract Type: International Consultant
Grade: Consultant
Duration: Six months (with the view to extend)
WFP Nigeria seeks a Digital Marketing Officer to contribute to the successful implementation, monitoring and
evaluation of digital fundraising activities. The main objective is to boost private sector and individual donors’
acquisition and engagement through digital channels. To achieve these results, the Digital Marketing Officer will
assist the development and implementation of a Digital Fundraising Strategy and Action Plan.
The Consultant will work under the direct supervision of the Head of CAM Unit in collaboration with the
Partnerships Unit.
Tasks and Responsibilities
• Develop a marketing strategy and action plan for a variety of individual givers and private sector partners
with a focus on:
I. Deepening audience engagement using targeted communication techniques and channels
II. Exploring opportunities to attract new audiences as supporters
III. One-off and pledge donors’ acquisition and retention.
• Create and implement a digital fundraising strategy and campaign calendar for 2021.
• Support the implementation of integrated fundraising and communication campaigns that reach targeted
private sector partners and individuals to drive donations.
• Contribute to the production of digital fundraising and communication assets including video.
• Plan, execute, monitor and evaluate lead generation campaigns in order to grow the contact list of
supporters, acquire new one-off and pledge donors, drive income growth and obtain maximum
profitability in terms of ROI.
• Assist in the implementation of mobile marketing campaigns via SMS and mobile messaging apps in
• Coordinate and closely monitor the work of external providers - digital and creative agencies to ensure
high performance and delivery of results.
• Plan and prepare weekly fundraising posts for social media according to the profile of the audience and
the communication approach for every channel.
• Create quarterly direct e-mail campaigns to Nigerian private sector partners with call to action. Tailor and
personalize messages to various target groups of supporters. Track results and implement improvements
to increase open rate and click rate.
• Set and monitor digital KPIs and make necessary adjustments if needed:
I. Define a metrics plan, set and track performance indicators according to the fundraising strategy.
II. Develop and maintain dashboards to oversee key digital performance indicators.
III. Prepare monthly digital analytic reports with recommendations for improvements according to
results obtained.
• A digital fundraising strategy for 2021-2022.
• A digital fundraising workplan and campaign calendar for 2021-2022.
• Planned integrated fundraising, communication campaigns and events in Q2, Q3 and Q4 2021.
• At least two digital fundraising campaigns per year are executed across different digital channels. The
results are tracked and measured against set KPIs and objectives. The financial targets for cash and
pledge income and number of donors acquired are fully reached.
• Digital fundraising performance indicators are defined and monitored on weekly and monthly basis.
Results are tracked and digital analytics reports with recommendations for improvements are provided by
the 5th of every month.
• Two e-mail marketing campaigns targeting Nigeria’s private sector and individual donors.
• Automated and template e-mails for thank you, welcome, conversion and reactivation are edited, content
and design are updated.
Qualifications and Specialized Knowledge/experience required
• Advanced University degree or bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, social science or other
relevant field with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses.
• Proven excellent writing skills.
• Demonstrated experience in delivering high-impact digital campaigns.
• Demonstrated experience in developing original stories, storytelling, understanding diverse audiences and
the most appropriate channels/approaches to reach them.
• Strong analytical skills and solid understanding of web metrics, digital analytics, with the ability to
generate, analyse and interpret data.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Creative thinking.
• Drive for results.
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational and planning skills.
Excellent written and oral English.
