Admin Posted February 2, 2021 Share Posted February 2, 2021 Organization: International Organization for Migration Closing date: 10 Feb 2021 As part of the operationalization of IOM’s Migration and Sustainable Development Strategy, IOM has been working closely with partners to improve how the impact of migration on development (and vice versa) is communicated to different target audiences in compelling and targeted ways. To support these efforts, IOM is seeking a consultant with an extensive experience in strategic communications, marketing, and/or public relations. The consultant will help increase the brand awareness and positioning of this work by creating and developing effective communication tools, methods, and messaging. The objective of the consultancy is to support IOM to strengthen strategic communications on the relationship between migration and sustainable development. The consultant will be responsible for the following activities: Identify key challenges and opportunities for strategic communication on migration and sustainable development, based on IOM’s existing documents, as well as UN priorities and key messages for the Decade of Action for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Research and propose news hooks, story angles and creative opportunities to optimize communication based on target audiences and platforms based on interviews and desk research. Develop content and assets on M&SD, including key messages, lines to take, project examples, talking points that can be adapted for use in different settings. Ensure necessary linkages are made with IOM’s M&SD Strategy (especially its deliverables) and related institutional efforts and programming. Provide additional communication support as requested and establish the necessary feedback channels to measure engagement. Required skills and experience: Education: Master’s degree in related field, with 8 years professional experience in the field of communications public relations, or journalism. University degree with 10 years of relevant professional experience. Experience: Previous experience working on communications and outreach; Expertise in developing and implementing communication strategies or campaigns at the institutional/national level as a minimum, but preferably with a global or regional scope; Proven ability to strategically shape messages on complex issue in compelling and concise ways for social media and outreach; Experience providing and compiling information on new communications opportunities and progress as well as efficacy of previous efforts taken. Skills: Excellent writing and analytical skills to communicate on complex topics; Solid understanding of how to connect with various audiences in a compelling and persuasive manner; Knowledge of different communications outlets and channels; Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Ability to work from home.
