We want to support creative practitioners, hubs, organisations and initiatives that understand the importance of nuanced, progressive, creative and innovative storytelling about Africa to shift stereotypical narratives. Narrative matters. It shapes perceptions about the continent and its people and it’s time for us to present a different perspective …so it’s with great pleasure that we declare our funding season open. Operational support grants are awarded to organisations within the Arts, Culture and Media sector who are supporting contemporary and empowering narratives of Africa through programme delivery, job creation, residences, networking opportunities and training and capacity building for creatives, artists, journalists on the continent. Amount: up to $50,000 Suitable for: Organisations like creative hubs, narrative change organisations, media houses, festivals, galleries, digital platforms etc). Apply here. Project-Support Grants support the delivery of creative projects on the continent by storytellers who are using art, innovation, tech and creativity to challenge stereotypical narratives about Africa. Project support grants must be for a specific project with a clear start and end date and project milestones Amount: Up to $15,000 (Individuals) or $30,000 (organisations) Suitable for: creative practitioners, curators, festivals, media houses, galleries, digital platforms etc. Apply here. The Kekere Emerging Artists Fund is our way of ensuring we are truly reaching and supporting narrative changemakers on the ground and not just well-established storytellers. The fund is for exceptional emerging artists on the continent who are doing ground-breaking work and creatively challenging harmful narratives within their local and digital communities. This grant will be awarded to up to 25 exceptional artists, helping them to develop their work further Amount: up to $2000. Apply here.
