Job Function:

To support the Implementation of community outreach work in accordance to trusted social change communication methods.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead field implementation of all outreach activities using mobile cinema, theatre, bulk SMS broadcasts and radio and in a refugee camp
  • Design, maintain and implement detailed work plans to ensure all outreach activities are completed in a timely manner
  • Implement participatory approaches that ensure community consultation and feedback that will inform about community trends and validate program response
  • Develop the capacity of outreach teams to deliver long-term Social Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) strategies for social change
  • Develop the capacity of outreach teams to run effective rapid emergency life saving communication campaigns.
  • Understand and promote the use of traditional forms of communication preferred by different communities in the refugee programme to promote contractive dialogue on health, rights and protection
  • Write internal progress reports, donor reports and participate in proposal development
  • Lead and or participate in the design of SBCC materials (video, video facilitation guides and handbooks, posters, fliers, fact sheets)
  • Work closely with the camp team leaders and other relevant program outreach staff in discussing various issues of concern and also identifying approaches to addressing these problems within the communities
  • Support the program and production staff to select actors, interviewees, and locations, and organize with the community stakeholders for films to be produced within the target locations. They program are expected to work in a participatory manner to ensure timely and efficient execution of the program
  • Together with the Senior Programmes Officer/Outreach Team leader, organize for advisory meetings at the community level to ensure that final video products are pre-viewed, accepted and approved by both the messaging and advisory committees
  • Supervise the camp based outreach staff and work closely with the monitoring and evaluation assistants in keeping accurate statistics of Film based trainings, awareness campaigns, mobile screenings and other outreach activities as prescribed in work plans
  • Coordinate with other FAK teams to roll out activities
  • Support the M&E team in data collection for reporting and community feedback
  • Take part in monthly BVA meetings with the Senior Programmes Officer as needed for activity progress and monitoring purposes
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Senior Programmes Officer.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Community development, Humanitarian/Development work, Programme /Project Management, Communications, Social Sciences or relevant related field
  • 3-4 years of experience with a local or international NGO in similar capacity
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications
  • Articulate in command of English language (written & spoken)
  • Self-organization and planning skill
  • Good communication skills
  • Good coordination and planning skills
  • Very good English writing and speaking skills
  • A proper understanding of humanitarian principles
  • Good supervision skills
  • Good interpersonal skills & people management skills
  • Good report writing skills
  • Planning and execution of laid down plans
  • Sufficient understanding of population of interest
  • Conflict management and communication skills
  • Ability to develop and make presentations
  • Good understanding of M&E
  • Good understanding of security procedures
  • Attention to detail
  • Basic photography skills
